Deck stripping products, Deck strippers Introduction: Deck stripping Chemical products, Deck strippers
Professional Wood and Deck Strippers for all types of wood. These products will help in the removal of all transparent and semi-transparent exterior wood deck stains. Deck Stripping is essential for creating an even surface on which the new sealant can adhere. If the high-traffic areas of your deck have worn down, but there is still sealant remaining in other areas, strip the entire deck before you re-stain. Deck Stripping is most important if you are changing colors. Traces of an old color left underneath will affect the way a new color appears. Choose a stripper that is formulated for:

Removing clear and toned finishes and sealers, which requires less stripping power. Removing semi-transparent or opaque stains, which requires more stripping power. Consult the manufacturer’s instructions to determine which stripper is right for your project.

Deck stripping products, Deck strippers Description:
Deck stripping products, Deck strippers Thorough stripping and cleaning of any deck or fence is essential to get good results when sealing or staining. If the deck was previously sealed, the common practice is to strip off the old sealer to remove stain and other products on the surface. Deck Stripping is done to get back to the actual wood. All sealers are designed to bond best to the wood itself (rather than to bond to an aged layer of the old sealer). By stripping off at least the “coating” portion of the old sealer, you can eliminate most reasons for premature sealer failure.

Water Test : If the water beads up or stands on the deck, your deck may not need sealing yet.A water test is the easiest way to ensure that the wood can absorb sealer or finish. Sprinkle water on the deck. If it soaks in immediately, the deck can be sealed. If the water beads up or stands on the deck your deck may not need sealing yet. When you are certain the deck needs sealer, lightly sand rough spots with a pole sander and 80-grit paper. Be sure to wear a mask so you will not inhale the sawdust.

SAFETY NOTE:Wear rubber gloves, close-toed shoes, a long-sleeved shirt and pants when applying deck chemicals to minimize the chance of skin irritation. Also, wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from back spray. Follow all manufacturer's safety instructions.

Deck stripping products, Deck strippers Testimonials : Deck stripping Chemical products, Deck strippers

The attached pictures were taken this weekend when I stripped a section of my decking using DS 4021 Deck Stripper. The conditions are considered the most challenging.

1. This decking is 17 years old and was covered in at least 4 coatings of Behr stain. There were 2 coats oil based semi transparent stain and 2 coats latex solid color stain. The top coat was 3 years old.

2. Notice the dark colored area in the picture labeled “Stain Lifting”. This is the original oil based stain being pulled out of the wood. You can also see the solid stain beginning to bubble.

3. The elapsed time from initial application to the power wash stage was 45 minutes. The decking was in direct sunlight so it was necessary to reapply to keep the surface wet. The stripping process was well under way in 25 to 30 minutes after initial application.
